Filming at the Beach

What a terrific day to be filming our promo video on Tybee Island.  Amaya, Daniel, Blythe and I had a lot of fun in the sand and the surf, and managed to get some beautiful shots in just before the sunset.

We then feasted at Hukapoo's on Tybee and discussed our visions, fears, expectations, challenges, opportunities, and general excitement about this production.  In general, an artistically productive day had by all.  (Thank you, Daniel, for supplying the camera and sound equipment, and Blythe for the transportation).

Here are some teaser shots to give you a taste of the day.  Promo video/Kickstarter campaign should be launched next week, so keep checking back, and spread the word.

Artist friends, I'm still looking for an image/graphic design for the production.  As an added incentive, whoever designs this will have the opportunity to hang an "exhibition" of other "classically themed" works on the walls of our event space during the show, giving the artist an opportunity to be seen by our audience and possibly make some sales.

Casting complete for "Purgatorio"

After a powerful round of invited auditions on Monday, I am pleased to announce the Cast for our production of "Purgatorio":

The Woman:  Ms. Amaya Murphy
The Man:  Mr. Daniel Thrasher
SCAD Performing Arts Sophomore Daniel Thrasher

SCAD Performing Arts Sophomore Amaya Murphy

Both of these talented actors have been seen in SCAD mainstage productions this year and will bring electric chemistry to Ariel Dorfman's play.

SCAD Performing Arts Sophomore Blythe Beard-Kitowski
Their fellow sophomore Blythe Beard-Kitowski has also signed onto the production as our stage manager, for which, I am extremely grateful.

Production Design Junior Chris Schenning will be designing the production.  He and I previously worked together on the recent production of "Time Between Us" in the Mondanaro Theatre, and I can't wait to see how Chris uses his incredible talent and imagination to create the world of "Purgatorio."

We'll be filming our Kickstarter/promo video for fundraising over the next few weeks, so keep checking in for updates.

Poster Image Challenge

OK all you artsy designers out there who happen to be friends with me, I have a challenge for you...and the first interactive aspect of my thesis production:

I'm looking for an image that will be the poster/brand image for my production of "Purgatorio."  Without going into too much detail yet about what the play is about, the image I'm looking for is something that "describes" Medea and Jason through a stylized lens (Art nouveau, Art Deco, Mid-Century Mod, etc).

For example, I love Mucha's poster image for Sarah Bernhardt playing Medea:
Shelley Esaak, former About.com Guide, http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://0.tqn.com/d/arthistory/1/0/Z/o/alphonse_vienna_09_05.jpg&imgrefurl=http://arthistory.about.com/od/from_exhibitions/ig/mucha_belvedere/alphonse_vienna_09_05.htm&usg=__1rL-hf80WamjUdA4m2cg9cCAOU8=&h=1500&w=525&sz=183&hl=en&start=1&sig2=Y2EF7YTCD1uJuQLpUc2Vbw&zoom=1&tbnid=cCwsYGZxbNRX6M:&tbnh=150&tbnw=53&ei=W3KCUaKpL-3L0gG1l4HICQ&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dmucha%2Bmedea%26hl%3Den%26gbv%3D2%26tbm%3Disch&itbs=1&sa=X&ved=0CCwQrQMwAA

But I want something:
   a) Original
   b) Depicting both Medea and Jason (kids optional)
   c) Translates well to black and white

If anyone wants to take up this challenge, the selected artist will receive credit in the program (and my thesis), as well as two free cocktails from Sparetime (meaning my treat), or a comparable value if you're from out of town).  You'd obviously also be able to use the image for your own portfolios and you would retain all rights to the image provided I could use it for publicity purposes for this production.

Let me know if you're interested or have any questions by leaving comments here, or emailing me at ankanter3@gmail.com

Thanks, and happy image-making!
We've been approved for the rights!  (Thank you Samuel French).

Invited auditions are on Monday, so I'll keep you updated as to our cast.
